Fuelling a Sustainable Future

HAMR is an Australian based, low carbon fuels and chemicals company with a focus on renewable methanol developments

Why is methanol important?

Methanol is one of the most traded chemical commodities in the world.

Many every day products such as furniture, plastics, paints, building products and medical products are created using methanol.

Methanol is increasingly generated from sustainable sources and used as a clean-burning, low-carbon fuel, making it an attractive option for decarbonizing the maritime industry and potentially aviation.

With its ability be made sustainably and reduce harmful emissions, it has the potential to improve air quality and reduce greenhouse gas emissions across multiple industries.

What is renewable methanol?

Historically methanol has been synthesised from natural gas or coal which is estimated to contribute 300Mt of CO2 emissions per annum.

Renewable methanol is a clean and eco-friendly liquid fuel made from sustainable sources like biomass, or by using captured carbon dioxide and hydrogen produced from renewable electricity. It's often called bio-methanol or e-methanol and is a great alternative to traditional fossil fuels. By using renewable methanol, we can reduce our carbon footprint and help protect the environment(MI).

“We started HAMR Energy to support hard to abate sectors to decarbonise by creating carbon neutral liquid fuels ”
